The year 2019 will mark 42 years that the length of Elvis Presley’s life has matched the time since he passed away. I view his life as a tragedy and it is through this observance, I photograph. Greil Marcus has written that since his death, Elvis has become a “fetish commodity.” His likeness appears everywhere from coffee brands, candy bars, clothing lines and many other items. In death, his estate still generates millions of dollars a year.
